Wellness is multi-dimensional, and our wellness director works with staff to help ensure all aspects of a person are considered: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual and vocational.

Physical wellness includes regular health screenings, fitness classes and recreational activities, such as water aerobics, yoga and golf outings.

Emotional wellness includes seminars, as well as opportunities to laugh and share.

Socially, residents take part in scheduled and impromptu gatherings and celebrations, and the atmosphere breeds friendliness and caring.

The environment fosters the spiritual health of residents and respects various faiths and belief systems. Study groups, meditation courses, yoga and tai chi classes are offered.

Intellectual stimulation is available in many educational and cultural opportunities, including a partnership with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNCW, located right next door to Carolina Bay. This program offers non-credit classes specifically developed for adults aged 50 and over who are interested in diverse, intellectually stimulating courses.

Vocational wellness is achieved through opportunities to pursue hobbies and volunteer efforts within Carolina Bay and in the greater community.
