Inspirational:     The INSPIRE program allows you to feel better physically, mentally and emotionally through our person-centered dynamic programs

Nutritional:         Morrison healthy dining options, smoothie bar, fitness nutrition programming and nutritional seminars

Spiritual:              Mindfulness Program including yoga, tai chi, meditation, stress reduction & relaxation techniques and life coaching

Personal:              Wellness assessments, on-site personal training 7 days a week and individualized exercise programs for every resident

Integrative:          Open referral system between the rehab department, our on-site Medical Director and the INSPIRE program staff to address all resident needs

Rehabilitative:    INSPIRE works directly with the rehab department and home health to continue the plans of care for residents in the Wellness Center upon discharge from therapy services

Educational:        The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNC-Wilmington provides educational lectures and programs for residents of Carolina Bay

Multi-dimensional and comprehensive, designed to fully immerse residents in a well-rounded program where they can achieve an exceptional feeling of well-being and a high sense of self-efficacy. INSPIRE at Carolina Bay meets each resident’s unique needs. Our goal is to provide residents with the opportunity to have some of the best years they have ever experienced.

Residents can choose from a wide variety of wellness programs from the beginner to the advanced fitness enthusiast. Several aquatics programs include arthritis based aquatics classes, Saltwater Circuit Training, and high intensity water aerobics. Everything from cardio and strength conditioning to full body seated conditioning classes as well multiple levels of Tai Chi, Yoga, and Meditation are offered in our Wellness Studio and Zen Garden. INSPIRE has an on-site Personal Trainers available for residents to work with on an individual basis as well 5 days a week. Fitness assessments and individualized exercise prescriptions are tailored to meet each resident’s needs based on their personal fitness levels and abilities.

Programming is available for those with cardiac and pulmonary conditions, low vision, and mobility challenges. Falls prevention is of high importance on our campus and we offer beginner as well as advanced level balance classes and one-on-one balance training sessions to prevent falls from happening in the future.

Participating residents in the INSPIRE Program at Carolina Bay will begin to see steady decreases in blood pressure, lower resting heart rates, increases in oxygen levels, as well as gains in muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. Not only will you feel better physically but you will feel better mentally and emotionally as well.

Nature trails, bike paths, Autumn Hall’s 8 Acre Lake, and the headwaters of Bradley Creek bring other wellness programs to the outdoors such as hiking, biking, fishing and kayaking.

UNCW Partners With Carolina Bay's INSPIRE Program

Carolina Bay, Liberty Senior Living and our INSPIRE Wellness Program are excited to announce our brand new partnership with UNC-Wilmington's College of Health and Human Services department! Liberty's own, Nate Futrell is now a Lecturer at UNCW in the Gerontology and Exercise Science departments for students that are interested in working in the field of Geriatric Exercise Science. Carolina Bay is thrilled to announce the addition of year-round student interns completing their fieldwork experience under the direction and supervision of Nate Futrell at Carolina Bay and placement in our other Liberty Senior Living communities. Carolina Bay and Liberty Senior Living will now have the latest and most up to date research, education and application of Geriatric Exercise Science as part of our now expanded INSPIRE Wellness Program in all of our Wellness Centers. Student Interns will hold educational seminars on health and wellness topics, conduct fitness and aquatics programs and will perform research studies and case studies with and for our residents with regard to balance and body composition alongside Nate and UNCW research assistants.
