Happy Wellness Wednesday folks! A question we often get asked is how can you improve balance? There are three main components of balance: visual systems, vestibular systems and proprioceptive systems.
Proprioception is your sense of body position. Specifically relating it to balance, you can think about it as how your feet and ankles are connecting to the ground. This is why it is harder to balance on an unstable surface like grass or the sand on the beach.
By using equipment like the bosu ball and foam pad in our wellness classes, we can manipulate proprioception in a safe environment to help improve balance! #WellnessWednesday.
