Residents of Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall Honor Holiday with Thanks and Giving
The residents of Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall are participating in the senior living community’s inaugural Thanks-Giving Challenge.
An initiative of Carolina Bay’s wellness programming, the November challenge encourages residents to focus on gratitude, mindfulness, and benevolence through suggested activities.
Designated tasks are divided into those of thankfulness, and those of giving. They include self-care activities, and different ways to donate or reach out.
“We try to have a challenge every few months to give residents an additional incentive to get involved with various programs at our community,” said Madison Norris, wellness director at Carolina Bay. “Our wellness programming at Carolina Bay is centered around our INSPIRE program, which stands for Inclusive, Nutritional, Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Recreational, and Engaging. The various activities on the challenge incorporate all of these objectives perfectly. For example, eating a healthy meal (nutritional), attending a wellness class (physical), attending a meditation class (spiritual), attending a mindfulness lecture (intellectual), attending a positivity workshop (recreational), going to the nature scavenger hunt (engaging), and eating a meal with a new neighbor (inclusive).”
So far this month, the residents have held a philanthropic farmers market, made monetary donations to benefit a local breast cancer awareness group, welcomed participants including new faces in wellness classes, and more. Residents have signed up to participate in positivity workshops and a nature scavenger hunt later in the month.
Approximately 25 residents planned to complete the fitness challenge.
