One-Bedroom Homes Are A Perfect Fit for Residents of Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall

Living in a spacious one-bedroom apartment at Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall , a luxury rental senior living community in Wilmington, North Carolina, provides Ann Hill and her husband, Roger, with everything they need and much more.

“We have a king-size bed with two end tables in the bedroom. The living room is also very large,” says Ann Hill. “It’s the perfect size for us.”

The community has 122 independent living apartments, all of which feature full-size kitchens, expansive living rooms, the option of additional dens, and balconies or porches.

The Hills frequently use the porch attached to their apartment.

“We have our coffee on the porch in the morning and after dinner,” Ann says about the sunny space, which she has decorated with colorful flowers in hanging baskets.

“It’s like having an extra room,” she says.

When the Hills moved to Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall 19 months ago,
they brought with them all the comforts of home, including their Yorkie named Izzy.

“Izzy is five pounds, and I can take her right out the door for her walks,” Ann says.
“My husband likes being close to his car, which is also just a short walk away.”

The Hills, who have two adult children, also have plenty of room for family visits. Their son sometimes stays on the pull-out couch in their living room, or they book the hospitality suite offered on the campus for when family or friends visit.

Nancy Keough, who’s lived at Carolina Bay for three years, is also very happy in her one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath apartment.

“This is great. It fits all my needs,” she says about the apartment that, like all others on campus, features a bathroom with a walk-in shower, a washer and dryer and other amenities.

“The bathroom is very large,” she says.

Having moved to Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall from a single-family house, Keough enjoys not having to worry anymore about home maintenance. Additional services provided at the senior living community include weekly housekeeping, linen service, and dry-cleaning pickup and delivery.

Furthermore, Keough no longer has concerns about getting to various destinations, such as the grocery store. “They have almost anything we need here,” she says. “If I need to go to the grocery store, they have transportation.”

In her previous home, she had several small closets in various bedrooms where she kept her clothing. Since moving to Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall, she has been able to put all of her clothing into one large walk-in closet attached to her bedroom.

No longer worrying about the burdens of home ownership, Keough is able to enjoy the wide range of activities offered at Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall, all of which are located right in her own building.

“If I want to go to balance class, all I do is go right downstairs,” Keough says.

Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall’s amenities include a wellness center, a card room, a billiard room, a media and multi-purpose room, an art studio, a library, a saltwater pool and hot tub, casual and fine dining venues, and one private dining room available for entertaining friends and family.

Keough meets regularly for lunch and dinner with friends in one of the three dining venues.

“We ask each other, ‘Where do you want to eat today?’” she says. “It is wonderful to have so many choices.”

The Hills are just as pleased with the wide range of activities at the community. After recently finishing a water aerobics class in the morning and planning to go to a brain teasers challenge in the afternoon, Ann Hill says she’s always busy.

“I’m very active,” she says. “I feel like I live in a cruise ship that doesn’t leave the dock.”
