In the Lab with Lil Sparks Curiosity and Fun

What happens when a Life Enrichment Assistant with a creative streak meets a community full of curious minds? At Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall, the answer was In the Lab with Lil.

Lily Poulos Retiz launched the popular program several years ago after noticing that many residents had backgrounds in science and engineering. She wanted to create opportunities for them to reconnect with that sense of discovery while having plenty of fun along the way.

Since then, residents have tested the limits of homemade tin foil boats, created fake snow, built exploding snowmen, and explored hands-on experiments that bring out everyone’s inner scientist.

Now serving as Carolina Bay’s Life Enrichment Director, Lily continues to expand the program. Recent projects have included battery-powered cars and balloon races that inspire friendly competition.

This is proof that curiosity never retires and learning never goes out of style.
