Carolina Bay Brings Home Bronze and Lasting Friendships
Competition, camaraderie, and plenty of spirit were on full display at this year’s Liberty Games. Under the care, support, and encouragement of coaches Rachel and Lily, 14 Carolina Bay athletes traveled to Hayes Barton Place in Raleigh to compete alongside residents from sister Liberty Senior Living communities.
The team included eight returning athletes and four first time competitors, creating a mix of experience, enthusiasm, and determination. Along the way, residents connected and reconnected with friends from sister communities while also strengthening bonds with their own teammates. Those friendships are just as meaningful as the medals.
Carolina Bay delivered an impressive performance, earning third place among 12 participating communities. The team particularly excelled in putting, water walk, and swimming events.
Residents continue to rave about both the competition and the exceptional organization of the Games. With memories still fresh and medals proudly displayed, many are already counting down the days until next year’s event.
