Keeps Residents and the Greater Community on their Toes with Its Monthly Concert Series

Residents of the luxury senior living community, Carolina Bay, at Autumn Hall in Wilmington, North Carolina, their family, friends and guests from around the neighborhood are dancing the evenings away once a month this summer at a new event dubbed Bash at the Bay.
The senior living community, which offers independent living, assisted living, memory support, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing, hosted the music and dance party for the first time in June and has two more planned for July 31st and August 26th.
“We are hosting well-known local dance bands that play the oldies and new music,” says Sami Johnson, life enrichment director. “They play a variety of music, and it’s all very upbeat.” Joe Brown and the Band is slated for July 31st and the band Feebs is planned for August 26th. “Feebs features one our own Liberty Senior Living staff members, Haley Kinne-Norris. The INSPIRE wellness and Enrichment Coordinator for Liberty Senior Living, Haley is the lead singer of Feebs,” said Johnson. No one will go hungry at the event, that also includes a food truck from Wheelz Pizza and an ice cream truck from Ice Cream and Beyond.
The Bash at the Bay is held under an expansive portico in the front of the spacious Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall entrance, with seating for more than 100 people. Additionally, Johnson says, “A lot of our residents invite their friends and family and sit out on their balconies overlooking the party while they enjoy a glass of wine.” The first event was embraced to the point where “there was someone on every balcony,” she says. Since the sun sets behind the building, the area where the party is held is shaded and comfortable for attendees despite the summer heat. Members of the community who live nearby are welcome to attend. Guests are asked to bring their own coolers and lawn chairs for this event. “It’s easy to park in our parking lot and walk on over,” Johnson says.
The event in June attracted a wide range of ages. “It’s been very intergenerational,” Johnson says. “We are happy to have had a lot of children here. What could be better than seeing people of all ages having so much fun,” she says.
The Bash at the Bay provides just one more way for residents Of Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall to socialize, stay active and engaged, and enjoy their lives to the fullest. In addition to the monthly party, the community offers 220 total activities for the month, plus a wide range of fitness and wellness classes for residents. “Whatever a resident’s hobby is, we have a program for it,” Johnson says.
The community’s many physical amenities are geared to helping residents stay active. They include walking paths around the spacious campus, a saltwater pool, an art studio, a stationary equipment room for exercise, a room for group exercise classes, a putting green, shuffleboard courts, a card room, a media and multi-purpose room and a library.
Johnson says there are many retirees in the greater community who can get to know Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall by attending the Bash. “If Carolina Bay hasn’t been on their radar, it’s a great way to introduce them to it and what we have to offer,” she says.
